Making It With Allie - Roberto Capucci

This week while we are visiting family in Philadelphia,
we were able to visit the most inspiring
Roberto Capucci: Art Into Fashion
exhibit at the

Can I tell you - It was AMAZING!
I am feeling SO inspired!
I want my sewing machine to be HERE. Now.

I will spare you a lengthy Fashion History Lesson and tell you to go read about
Roberto Capucci, the Legendary Italian Designer HERE

I wanted to share a few photos of some of my favorites!

Bocciolo (Bud) Dress 2009 - 1956 reproduction
The "bubble" skirt is not a recent fashion trend!
Capucci first did it in 1956

This 1971 silhouette and style was so influential that even my mother's wedding dress mirrors this style!
I will share that gem with you in the future!

1984 Silk Taffeta embroidered with crystal beads

1984 Cinema Sculpture Dress
Can you see the reels of film?

1985 Pleated Silk Taffeta
I actually joked that he MUST be part Egyptian to be able to pleat like that, when it was pointed out that Capucci came across some VERY old pleaters in 1971 and started experimenting with them!

1984 Bougainvillea
This reminds me of some costumes I wore in Little Shop of Horrors!

1992 Satin Sculpture Dress

1992 Pagoda Sculpture Dress

And now it is Time for the
Making It With Allie Link Party!
What have you got this week?

Things have been quite exciting around these parts!

Making It With Allie - AuBrynne's Best Friend

So, last week, my father came to visit.
Long story short, AuBrynne had A BALL hanging with her "Pop-Pop"!
We went to dinner and they sat together...

She was a PERFECT Angel that night! You see, we had to pick up a phone at the AT&T store.
And things took SEVERAL hours longer than we expected.
Like, they closed the gates and the cleaning crew left, long...
She was AWESOME.
She is not this patient if I have to spend three minutes in the phone store!
Anyways, I was going through my phone this week, preparing for Jenn's Phone Photo Friday,
and when I came to this picture, AuBrynne says,
"Mom, that's Pop-Pop! He's my BEST friend!"
It tickled me to bits!
And I had to share it with you!

I have no new projects blogged for you this week as we are preparing to hop in our truck
and travel to Philadelphia to visit Pop-Pop and Grandma-Barb.
We leave Friday Morning, so wish us good travel-karma!

And now it is Time for the
Making It With Allie Link Party!

March Jewelry

You guys are going to get a few more St. Patty's Day crafts from me,
simply because we were all sick and I wasn't able to share them.

My mother and I both made some jewelry for St. Patrick's Day this year.
This Lucky Necklace, my mother should hide if she wants to keep it...
Cuz I LOVE this one!
And think she should give it to her child with the darkest hair :)

Then she made bracelets like this one for all of us, even lil' AuBrynne!

Then I made this little guy.
I made then scrapped and re-made this necklace a dozen times.
Then I was tinkering with some glass vase filler beads...
And what do you know? They fit into the little necklace piece I had!
So, I put those and some little Orange hotfix crystals in then some Dimensional Magic, and Voila!
I have a question for you crafty ladies to follow the pics

And one with this creepy ring holder...

So I need to ask you all a question about this Modge Podge Dimensional Magic stuff!
After a week or so, I am finding the Dimensional Magic goes cloudy, for lack of a better word.
It take on this blue-ish tone and is still pretty transparent, but NOT.
Does this make sense?
I have done some looking around, and have read that you have to use a sealer if you are using printed from your printer paper.  But I am having this happen on ALL my projects!
Which is really sad, because some of them were already given as gifts.
Anyways.
Does anybody have any tips on this issue?
Or causes, like: You have nannites in your house, Allie...
Or: Oh its simple chemistry, Allie...

Ok.  So help me out with this one, cuz, I think this stuff could be so FUN!

Go Here and Here...

Hello friends!
I want to tell you about a couple of very fun things today!
My friend Jenn over at Rook No. 17 is holding a very cool link party
that I think you should all go and participate in!
Think of your favorite children's story from when you were younger and hop on over...
Photobucket

Next, My other friend Jenn over at Circle of Love holds a fun party on Fridays called
I want to participate each week but I generally use my phone camera mostly for
taking pics of things that inspire me in my crafts each week.
So, I have been trying to pull my camera out for more than just inspiration shots.
This last week, I wanted to show you our St. Patrick's Day girls outing...
At lunch, my mom made my aunt and her matching bracelets and she gave it to her then:

My mom also made this cute necklace:
(Click the picture to see the detail..)

Here are the two sisters:

Before we got out that morning, I made AuBrynne a St. Patrick's themed shirt to ensure she wouldn't get pinched. She chose her rhinestone placement, and I think it was genius!

Then we went over to Francesca's and found the perfect purse for AuBrynne!

And if you thought, I might not have been there, here I am, lol...

So, now, I am going to link this up on FRIDAY over at Jenn's party:
